Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of the Kerygma desktop application, the kerygma.dev website, and any related services (together, “Kerygma”). By installing or using Kerygma, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
Kerygma is a software tool that listens to sermon audio and detects Bible references in real time. It is designed for use by churches and ministries during live services. Free tier features run entirely on your own hardware. Pro and Plus tiers add cloud transcription and other premium features that require a paid subscription.
2. Accounts
- You may use the Free tier without an account.
- Paid tiers require an account. You are responsible for keeping your password and email access secure.
- One account per organisation. Sharing accounts across multiple unrelated churches is not permitted.
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority where you live) to enter a paid subscription.
3. Subscriptions and billing
- Pro and Plus tiers bill monthly via Stripe at the price displayed on the pricing page at the time you subscribe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel anytime from Account → Manage Subscription. Features remain active until the end of the current billing period.
- New subscribers get a 14-day free trial. We do not charge you during the trial. You can cancel before it ends at no cost.
- Cloud transcription minutes are limited per tier (see Pricing). When you exhaust your monthly quota, Kerygma automatically falls back to local Whisper transcription. You will not incur overage charges.
- Prices may change. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before any price increase, and you may cancel without penalty during that notice period.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Kerygma to transcribe or process content you do not have the right to record.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the desktop app or its bundled AI models, except where local law allows.
- Resell or sublicense Kerygma without our written permission.
- Use Kerygma to abuse, defame, harass, or break the law.
- Circumvent the cloud transcription quota or licensing checks.
5. Bible text
Kerygma bundles eight Bible translations. The King James Version is in the public domain. The other translations (AMP, MSG, NIV, NKJV, NLT, NRSV, RSV) are used under licence from their respective publishers and are subject to those publishers’ usage terms. You may not extract, redistribute, or republish the Bible text from Kerygma outside of live-service display.
6. Intellectual property
We retain all rights to the Kerygma software, brand, and visual identity. Your subscription grants you a non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Kerygma during the subscription period.
7. Disclaimers
Kerygma is provided “as is.” We make reasonable efforts to ensure verse detection is accurate, but the system is best-effort and may miss references or surface false positives. You are responsible for reviewing what is displayed during your service.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of cloud transcription. The Free tier (local Whisper) is the canonical fallback.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from Kerygma is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) £50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Termination
You may stop using Kerygma at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, with written notice where practicable.
10. Refunds
See our Refund Policy.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email and posted here at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Kerygma after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your home country.
